The library will be closed along with the rest of the college on Monday, September 3 to celebrate Labor Day. Normal hours resume on Tuesday.
Labor Day is a holiday held the first Monday in September to commemorate the achievements of American workers. It is also celebrated in Canada, though workers in many other nations prefer May Day. Though it is now an established fixture on the North American calendar, the first workers’ holiday was born out of struggle and defiance. Parades and rallies were a staple of nineteenth-century working-class protests, and Labor Day emerged from those patterns.
